About

Introduction

My name is Benjamin Surkyn and I’m a developer/web designer living in Belgium. I started developing applications in 1997, mostly small things for myself. First in Turbo Pascal, which evolved to Delphi. After discovering the Web, developing for the web became the logical next step and I’ve been building dynamic web sites and web applications since 2001.

The online projects as much compliant with web standards as possible, using tableless semantic designs and CSS for styling. On the backend they mostly use ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL, when I’m developing for my job. I use PHP and MySQL, when I’m off-duty.

I also program compact devices using .NET compact framework and Windows applications, both in C# (1 and 2).

On Reconnected.be you can find some of the project I currently work on and have worked on in the past.

Why Reconnected.be?

Finding a good domain name that is as language independant as possible, but still resembles who you are, is a tricky thing.

This site used to be under since1982.net because I didn’t want to use my name, so I went for my birthyear. That is obviously 1982 and I’ve been “living” ever since.

The downside however is that the .be domain wasn't available and that has been bugging me ever since. Eventually in a "brainstorming session" reconnected.be came up and has stuck arround.
